This world is a restless place. We see people dashing about trying to find fulfillment in activity. Many dedicate themselves to gather riches. Others want all the pleasure of the sensual life. Still others want more leisure and arrange to work less and play more. Yet their spirits are not satisfied. Gadgets, pleasures, and possessions eventually lose their attractiveness. Every new diversion fills in for a time but quickly loses its appeal. Something seems to be missing.
Gospel of John 10:1-18 Have you ever heard someone calling your name and you did not know where the voice was coming from? Or maybe you could hardly hear the voice, because there was too much noise all around. Listen, a voice is calling you. You! Who are you? What is your name? Where did you come from? Where do you live? Where are you going?
Love… a beautiful word in any language. What does it bring to mind: affection, care, warmth, kindness, understanding, security, and mother? But think for yourself, what does this beautiful word really mean? Do you want to be loved? Do you love?
Purity, Love, Happy Homes, Confidence Lust, Shame, Fear, Broken Homes, Loneliness Purity of mind, conscience, and body is a tremendous personal asset, a Christian virtue, and a blessing to mankind. Declining moral values of today cause men and women to accept and indulge in behavior that the Bible clearly defines as sin. This behavior has become an accepted way of life for many people. That which God calls sin is often accepted as permissible. What will be the result of this departure from the beautiful plan of God?
The Doctrine of Nonresistance, often called the Peace Doctrine, was taught by the Prince of Peace himself. He taught it by precept and example. The disciples of Jesus understood His teaching very well, and consequently were well qualified to also teach it and live by it. The early Christians, and the Church ever since, have found this to be the "way" of Christian living. It seems to be a mystery to human reasoning. But for those of us in whom "the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given us" (Romans 5:5), it remains no question.
“Peace, where is peace—for our nations, our homes, and most of all for our hearts and minds?” This desperate cry has been heard through the ages. Is it also the cry of your heart? People are weary and worried. Without a doubt there is a need for direction and counsel, security and confidence. We need, and want, peace of mind. Peace of mind—what a treasure! Can this treasure be found in a world of so much conflict and despair, turmoil and trouble?
Have you ever thought, “If I could be perfectly free, I would be happy; I would have peace”? Many people have sought complete freedom in order to have happiness and peace. People desire to be free of all restraints, somehow believing that if they could do just as they please, this would bring happiness. Does it?
Jesus taught that the greatest of all commandments is to “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37). God has every right to our love because He created us for his pleasure. Then, when man fell into sin, God did what only perfect love would do; He purchased our salvation. God’s enemy, Satan, constantly tries to lure us away from Him and cause us to love and worship something else. One of the tools he uses today is photography.
The Bible says: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh” (Luke 6:45).
God has always had His spokesmen in this world. They have been called prophets, priests, judges, elders, ministers, and pastors, and many others, bearing no special credentials. The Words of God these men carried conveyed God’s Truth to the people, even though sometimes the people did not like their messages. In spite of afflictions, imprisonments, and even tortures, God’s messengers, regardless of their names, have been sounding His warnings faithfully.
